Lectures @ the Library - Election 2016: Analyses & Consequences

Barrington Public Library presents a post-presidential election lecture titled, “Election 2016: Analyses & Consequences” with Professor of Political Science, June Speakman.

The 2016 presidential election results show that Rhode Island is divided by blue towns along the coast and red towns inland, echoing the voting patterns of the country.  Speakman will discuss the factors that explain Trump’s victory and some of the consequences of that victory for public policy, both nationally and closer to home.

Professor Speakman has taught at Roger Williams University since 1995 and holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from City University of New York. Her research interests include congressional voting behavior, women and politics, and state and local government. In December, she ended fourteen years of service on the Barrington Town Council.
