I just loved seeing Cranford on Masterpiece Theater this weekend. Featuring Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins, this is a drama to die for! But don’t forget the book that started it all: Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell!

Smocked frocks from the collection of Janet Richardson and a selection of books on decorative sewing and needlework are currently on exhibit in the Library’s Glass Display Case, located on the main floor of the Library next to the fiction collection.
Elsa Grieder returns to the Library to host a play reading series on Tuesday mornings at 10:00, May 27-June 17. Plays include The Good Doctor by Neil Simon, The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance, Coastal Disturbances by Tina Howe and The Perfect Party by A.R. Gurney. Registration begins at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2008, in person or by phone at the Library’s Reference Desk (247-1920 x 2). Group is limited to 10 participants.
Take a look at our exciting Sea Adventures book display newly up near the main entrance to the Library. This display features both novels and true accounts of life at sea. Annotated booklists are available to be picked up at the display. Enjoy!
