Federal Student Aid

Thu, 02/07/2008 - 7:25pm -- JDavanza

The library has provided the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form for several years, but the Federal Department of Education has now suspended distribution of these forms to schools and libraries due to a decrease in the submission of these forms by students as it appears this is now being done on line for the most part.

Students will be able to request up to three paper copies by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 and should receive them in 3 to 7 business days.

The annual giant Friends of the Barrington Library booksale was a great success this past weekend.  The sale brought in more than $7,000! The proceeds will be used to purchase museum passes, library programs, recorded books, teen materials, and many other items that the Friends purchase for the library each year.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the members of the Friends and many library staff who put real effort into making this sale a success!

Libraries have been called “America’s greatest bargain”.  If you would like to see how much of a bargain, go to this link: http://www.olis.ri.gov/grants/gia/calculator.php

You can easily calculate what “return” you get on your tax dollar, each time you use a library service.

This information was provided by Rhode Island's Office of Library and Information Services.
