I learned today that Harvard has plans to provide free online access to faculty research and articles. Stay tuned… This reminds me a little of iTunes U. More good news: Check out the new Public Library of Law, “the largest free law library in the world.” Provides free access to: Cases from the U.S. Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals Cases from all 50 states back to 1997 Federal statutory law and codes from all 50 states Regulations, court rules, constitutions, and more! -Bri

Starting this spring, “Starbucks said it will give customers who use a Starbucks purchase card two hours of free wireless access per day. More time than that will cost $3.99 for a two-hour session.” (NY Times) Barrington Library says: We offer free wireless access to everyone, with or without a Starbucks card! Stephen King test-drives the new Amazon Kindle! “Most of you will already know what that is, but for those of you who have been living in a barn, your Uncle Stevie will now elucidate. It’s a gadget available from Amazon.com. The advance publicity says it looks like a paperback book, but it really doesn’t. “Love” by Matt Zinni.  Dynamic acrylic paintings by Matthew Zinni are on display at the Library during the month of February 2008.  Some of his paintings incorporate poetry into their matrix.  Come and enjoy the poetry and the energy!

During the month of February 2008, look for a diorama on display by Barrington native and college student Sam Andrews.  The diorama was inspired by the WWII classic film The Bridge on the River Kwai. Sam, who worked as a “page” at the Library during his highschool years, is happy to give something back to his former workplace by sharing this creative and visually exciting exhibit with Library patrons and staff.
