I just loved seeing Cranford on Masterpiece Theater this weekend. Featuring Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins, this is a drama to die for! But don’t forget the book that started it all: Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell!

Kathryn Kulpa will teach a fiction writing series called Life/Stories: Writing from Personal Experience this spring at the Barrington Public Library. The series will run on Thursday evenings at 7:30, June 5-26, 2008. Registration for the course begins on Thursday morning May 29, in person or by phone at the Library’s Reference Desk (247-1920 x 2.) Elsa Grieder returns to the Library to host a play reading series on Tuesday mornings at 10:00, May 27-June 17. Plays include The Good Doctor by Neil Simon, The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance, Coastal Disturbances by Tina Howe and The Perfect Party by A.R. Gurney. Registration begins at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2008, in person or by phone at the Library’s Reference Desk (247-1920 x 2). Group is limited to 10 participants.

During the month of May color photography by Barrington resident Chuck Van Sluyter will be on display at the Barrington Public Library. The collection includes landscapes from Chuck’s travels around the United States, Italy and Ireland. Nearly all of the images are printed from 35mm slides.
