The inviting piece of art, above, is by Lisa Pastille, whose work will be on display at the Library in April. This is the information she sent us about her display: During the month of April, an exhibit of digital artwork by Lisa Pastille will be featured on the Barrington Public Library’s wall display. Lisa is a classically trained, published, fine artist. She has created a novel type of image not before seen by the general public. She calls this digital technique Interpretive Photo Painting. Lisa’s “interpretive photo paintings” often feature portraits of individual houses. When she is finished working with them, the images are often mistaken for hand-painted pieces. Each project takes about 20 hours to complete. Every stroke is digitally hand painted, with the finished piece including part of the original photo incorporated into the whole. Each portrait is not only an artistically pleasing work of art, but is also desirable as a unique, one-of-a-kind rendering.
Also during the month of April, a selection of work created by local artists will be on display in the Library’s glass exhibit case. These art works will include hand-painted items such as boxes and candlesticks, as well as jewelry and other pieces of fine handwork. Items to be exhibited are on loan from Whimsies, a store in Warren, RI which calls itself an “art-inspired gift shop”. Andrea Bonniol of Whimsies is responsible for arranging this display for the Library.
The exhibits are both located on the first floor of the Library; they can be seen during Library hours. The Library is open from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday; from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and from 1:00-5:00 PM on Sunday.
