Day After Thanksgiving Walk

Walk off your Thanksgiving meal and spend the morning outdoors at one of Barrington's hidden gems, the Johannis Wildlife Preserve, 32 acres of woodlands, open fields, and saltwater marshes on the Palmer River.

Johannis is maintained and protected by the Barrington Land Conservation Trust and normally closed to the public. This is a wonderful opportunity to view this special property and enjoy time with family and friends.

This trail can be wet, so protective shoes are recommended.

Led by the Barrington Land Conservation Trust. The Barrington Land Conservation Trust, Inc. is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt group. Its purpose is to preserve the remaining natural resources of Barrington, Rhode Island and adjacent areas including water resources, streams, ponds, marshlands, woodlands, and scenic and natural sites, as well as the plant and animal life.

Directions & Parking:

Parking is limited at the trailhead, so we will meet at the parking lot of Sowams Elementary School, 364 Sowams Rd in Barrington. School parking area is on the southern side of Sowams Elementary School.
