Chronic Pain Self-Management Program

Are you living with chronic pain? Start the New Year by owning your health with a free six-week, small group chronic pain self-management program led by the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Chronic Pain Self-Management Program is a Stanford University evidence-based (proven to work) six-week workshop. Small groups are led by two trained leaders. A complementary resource book - Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain, is given to each participant.  Past workshop surveys have revealed that group members take comfort from being with other people experiencing similar challenges. Participants have also enjoyed interacting with others, brainstorming, gentle exercise, creating weekly action plans, and learning about new ways to self-manage symptoms by taking care of one’s own behavior and well-being.

Learn to:

  • manage pain
  • improve your sleep
  • manage your medications
  • eat healthier
  • improve communications with family and doctors
  • be more active
  • use action plans and problem solving for better decision making
  • meet new people

This program will take place at Barrington Public Library for six consecutive Thursdays and is currently full.

Made possible by a Rhode Island Foundation Community Grant, Friends of Barrington Public Library, Barrington Public Library and The BAY Team.
