Lab Girl by Hope Jahren

Superbly realized account of Hope Jahren's lonely upbringing to her quest to discover herself and the world of plants, from trees to flowers and seeds. The parallel stories of her life with plant life are engaging and illuminating. She explains botany and earth sciences so that non-scientific minds can grasp what she's discussing. Her personal stories are poignant, funny, and genuine. These stories are often hilarious and painfully human. Her vast knowledge and experience, especially with working out her life and passion, would be an inspiring conversation. She has a great ability to relate her life story into genuine moments of self-discovery alongside her commitment to science. Future (or wannabe) scientists might see an inspiring role model in Jahren.
