Artist Statement - Robin Fogg Schuldt:
I cannot recall a time when I was not inspired by beauty in all its forms. In my current work I use stamping and marking techniques to decorate collaging papers which I adhere to my acrylic paintings.  I am inspired by the world around in in the creation of these bright and bold compositions.

Artist Statement - Laurel Ferelli:
Having always loved looking at art, I am enjoying painting with watercolor and acrylics as a form of self-expression. I work to use color, shape and composition to portray things colorfully, maybe surprisingly. Creating feels optimistic.

Samantha Becker is a Rhode Island artist who discovered her passion for oil painting ten years ago while enrolled in the Painting Certificate Program at Rhode Island School of Design. As a psychotherapist, her work is inspired by her keen interest in people, their relationships and their environments. She paints still lives and interior scenes often including universal objects, textiles and concepts that imply interconnectedness intrinsic to the life experience.

Her Open Heart/Guarded Heart series is in part a depiction of the inner experiences people in relationship encounter. The paintings offer an invitation to consider opening one’s heart, despite experiences and conditioning we have all encountered which otherwise might prompt us to move through life with a guarded heart.

The heart series sparked inspiration for her latest body of work called Presence of Absence which features thoughtful compositions of beloved objects of the deceased to facilitate a creative connection – one that evokes their presence on Earth even as they have departed from it.

Whether conjuring the comfort of a cozy breakfast table or portraying various emotional states or honoring the enduring presence of someone who has passed, her paintings seek to create a pause, a holding environment of sorts, to nurture moments of connection, reflection, healing and happiness.
