Barrington Times Digital Archive

Access, search, and print articles from the Barrington Times Digital Archive from 1958-83. Digitization services by Advantage Archives. Made possible by a Libraries of RI grant offered by OLIS as funded via IMLS under the Grants to States Program by LSTA. Before 1958, the Barrington Times was part of the Warren-Barrington Gazette. You can view the archived publication on the George Hail Free Library's database at Warren Times Gazette

Providence Journal Online & Heritage Hub

Providence Journal Collection Online provides searchable, full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people, and more from current and archived issues of the Providence Journal (1981-current). 

Heritage Hub is the premier collection of U.S. obituaries and death notices for in-depth genealogical research from 1704 – today.

Barrington High School Yearbooks

The Library has a copy of most years of the Barrington High School Yearbooks (Arrow) from 1926-2015. Yearbooks are kept behind the reference desk and are available to view upon request. We are always seeking donations, so please call 401-247-1920 ext. 2 for more information.

Years owned: 1926-27, 1930-42, 1944-52, 1954-64, 1966, 1968-74, 1977, 1984-87, 1989-92, 1996-2015

Barrington Times Newspaper

The Library has the local Barrington Times newspaper in bound volumes (1984-2017) and archival boxes (2018-current). The bound volumes and boxes are located next to the adult biography section and are open to the public. Please visit the Barrington Times Digital Archive for the digitized editions (1958-83).

Karl P. Jones Horticultural Book Collection

The Library received the horticultural book collection of local resident Karl P. Jones around 1990. This collection includes about 100 items ranging from books to magazines, papers, and more. The collection is kept at the library in the public computer room across from the reference books. Items are available upon request and can only be viewed at the library under the direction of a library staff member. Please see the attached file below for the procedure to access this collection. Rhode Island Collection

The Library has a collection of books that have a special or unique connection to Rhode Island. The collection includes local authors, histories, and other topics. Items are for in-library use only. There are a number of genealogical resources within it. The collection is searchable in the library’s online catalog: Rhode Island Collection.

For additional local history research, please visit the Barrington Preservation Society website. Located on the ground floor of the library, the BPS Museum is usually open on Wednesdays.
