Hoopla

hoopla digital provides online and mobile access to ebooks, audiobooks, comics, music, movies, and TV series. With hoopla and your valid library card, Barrington Public Library card holders can borrow, instantly stream, and download dynamic content via hoopla’s mobile app or www.hoopladigital.com. There are no ads or commercials while enjoying content on hoopla. We are constantly getting new titles from various vendors on a weekly basis. Sometimes titles will be added for a limited time, so if you see something you like, check it out!

Simple to access and use, with no waiting and no hassles, hoopla digital is a service of Midwest Tape – a trusted partner of public libraries for over 25 years. All you need to get started is your library card and a web browser, smart phone, or tablet. Sign up today!

Here's how it works: visit hoopladigital.com. Select "Get started today" to create a new account with your email address. Search for Barrington Public Library. Select "Barrington Public Library (RI)" and then next. Type in your Ocean State Libraries card number. Then, select "sign me up." You now have access to hoopla! If you don't have a library card, there will be a link displayed to "obtain a library card online." hoopla is a digital platform offered to Barrington Public Library card holders only.

You can borrow up to 4 titles per month. Borrows reset on the first of the month. Each title has a different lending period, which will be displayed upon borrowing and in your "Currently Borrowed" page. Books are available for 21 days, videos are available for 72 hours, and music titles are available for 7 days after you borrow.

You can access Hoopla from any device, including iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. To set up hoopla on a device, visit hoopla's Vimeo account for video tutorials. Hoopla has an exceptional Help page on their website and within the app. You may also reach your Barrington librarians from our Ask A Librarian page.

3/7/24 notice:

Due to funding, Barrington Public Library has unfortunately made the difficult decision to change the availability of your hoopla Digital collection. You may also notice a shift in the access to your current collection. We apologize for any inconvenience. We are always doing our best to provide the fullest platform possible and are hopeful to offer you an unlimited catalog in the near future.

Why do I see a "daily limit" in the hoopla app? hoopla users have reached the daily borrowing limit. Each borrow is a cost. Due to hoopla's popularity, we have placed a cap on the daily cost to keep our budget in line. The "daily limit" notice may or may not appear each day. It all depends on the checkout activity. The library is looking into ways to remove the "daily limit" starting in July.
