   Screen legend Charlton Heston, whose memorable roles in a long film career included Moses in Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments and his Academy Award-winning turn as the eponymous lead character in William Wyler’s Ben Hur, passed away this past weekend at age 83. Our local Public Radio Station WRNI kicked off National Poetry Month with a whole hour devoted to a discussion of Sonnets. You can listen to the program by going to www.wrni.org. Once there, choose “On Point” on the programs link, and then choose “The making of Sonnets”. Listen to experts describing what sonnets are in their various permutations, listen to famous poets reading their works, and enjoy informed discussion in between.

The library has received information packets from the Internal Revenue Service which explain how to apply for the Economic Stimulus Payment in very easy-to-understand language along with filled-out samples as well as two copies of form 1040A which is to be filed in order to qualify for this benefit. In addition is the fact that people actually have until October 15, 2008 to file a  tax return for 2007 to do this.The library also has a good supply of form 1040A  and will keep them on hand...

Before there was Hillary, there was Eleanor! Join the Friends of Barrington Public Library, Sunday April 6 at 2 PM for Elena Dodd’s performance in “Meet Eleanor Roosevelt”. This performance is free and open to all. The annual meeting of the Friends of Barrington Library precedes the program, at 1:30 PM. Refreshments will follow the Eleanor Roosevelt program! April is National Poetry Month. The inviting piece of art, above, is by Lisa Pastille, whose work will be on display at the Library in April. This is the information she sent us about her display: During the month of April, an exhibit of digital artwork by Lisa Pastille will be featured on the Barrington Public Library’s wall display. Lisa is a classically trained, published, fine artist. She has created a novel type of image not before seen by the general public. She calls this digital technique Interpretive Photo Painting....

When is it them? When is it us? Recently we’ve learned that lots of Barrington, RI folks are mistakenly placing holds on items that belong to the library in Barrington, NH!  It’s an easy mistake to make.  The webpage for Barrington, NH is www.barringtonlibrary.com  and ours is www.barringtonlibrary.org. What a difference a few letters can make! So when placing a reserve on a book, please be sure to use .org!!
