Makerspace Studio

LogoBarrington Public Library’s Makerspace Studio is a dedicated space for the exploration of technologies past and present, providing access to a variety of STEM-related tools and equipment with the goal of creating engaging, hands-on experiences that promote discovery and self-directed learning. 

Makerspace Studio is located in the Westfall Children's Program Room (Second Floor). Patrons must have a valid Ocean State Libraries card in good standing to use Makerspace equipment. For usage guidelines and restrictions, please refer to our Makerspace policies and procedures

 

Makerspace Studio Hours

  • Mondays: 10am-4pm (open hours)
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 1-4pm (by appointment only)  

 

Accessing Makerspace Studio

Most equipment requires staff-led training before unsupervised use is allowed. To receive equipment training, visit Makerspace Studio during drop-in hours, book an appointment, or attend one of our Makerspace Studio classes. Click here to book an appointment.

Flashforge Adventurer 3  

A consumer grade desktop FFF/FDM 3D printer that features a quick-detachable and quick-heated nozzle, flexible heated build plate, build-in camera and fully enclosed build volume.

Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB & Pyle PT-659DU 

Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB & Pyle PT-659DU 

Record a vinyl record or cassette onto a computer using Audacity software. Once recording is complete, it can be exported as an MP3 or WAV file and transferred to USB flash drive or burned to CD.

USAGE RULES:

  • Must complete staff-led training before unsupervised use.
  • Patrons must provide their own USB storage device. 32GB drives are available for $5.

Glowforge Pro 

Glowforge Pro 

Marketed as a "3D laser printer," this machine uses a focused beam of light (laser) to cut, score, and engrave a variety of materials. The Pro version features a 45-watt CO2 laser that cuts and scores faster than the basic model, along with a pass-through slot to accommodate oversized material.

  • Can only be operated by library staff.

Cutting Machine

Silhouette Cameo 3  

A material cutter that uses a small blade to cut an array of materials such as paper, cardstock, vinyl, and fabric with a high level of precision.

Heat Press

Cricut Easy Press 2 

A handheld heat press machine used to imprint graphic designs on fabrics and clothes through the application of both heat and pressure. Offers precise temperature control up to 400°F and includes an insulated base and automated shut-off feature.

Elgato Video Capture 

Elgato Video Capture  

Capture video tapes onto a computer using Elgato software. Compatable with VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV formats. Once the capture is complete, an MP4 file is created that can be exported to a USB flash drive or burned to DVD.
