Do you collect something cool that you would like to share with our community?
Barrington Public Library is asking for submissions from community members for a new installation series entitled “Community Collectibles.” The goal of this series is to highlight the personal object collections of people within our community.
Here are a few examples of what we are looking for, but truly the sky is the limit. If you collect it, we want to feature it: LEGO Minifigures, Pencils or Erasers, Refrigerator Magnets, Guitar Picks, Polaroid Cameras, Sea Glass, Presidential Campaign Buttons, Bottle Caps, Hot Wheel Cars, Belt Buckles...and more!
How it Works:

If chosen, you will be given a month-long exhibition in one of the locked glass display cases outside of the McCulloch Children’s Room for public viewing. You will be responsible for transporting your collection to the library, setting up your display, and removing your display at the end of the month.
Guidelines for Submissions:

Items in your collection must be able to fit within the display case [Approximate Dimensions: 18" wide, 18" deep, four shelves each 18" tall].

Items in your collection can be purchased, found, or created items. The more unique, the better!

This is not meant to be a display of your own personal art. If you would like to inquire about an art exhibit, please contact director@barringtonlibrary.org

Items must be appropriate for all ages to view. The library retains sole discretion to determine if objects are appropriate.
Other important information:

Your collection will remain locked in the display for the duration of your show.

Your name, photo, and description of your collection will be included alongside the display.

Depending on the size of your collection, you may be sharing the display case for the duration of your exhibit with another community member.
Please note, the library retains sole discretion when it comes to selecting collections to feature. If your collection has been chosen, you will receive an email to schedule a time to come in to discuss your exhibition and select a month for your showing. We will not be able to accept every submission.
