Literary Pairings Book Discussion Group

Classics, or those of an historical nature, are "paired" the following month with a contemporary or lesser-known work related by theme, setting and/or characters. Literary Pairings generally meet the second Wednesday of the month from 7-8:30pm, except when it falls on a holiday, and meetings are facilitated by librarians Jane Granatino and Nancy Christy. This group meets September - June.

The selection for the October 11th meeting is In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez.

Reading in the Kitchen: a Cookbook Club

A book club for those who like to read cookbooks and enjoy a community meal.

The group meets monthly on the third Monday night of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a dish to share from that month’s cookbook and their own table setting.

Registration is required. This group cannot accommodate drop-ins.

To register, contact Community Services Librarian Jessica D’Avanza at jessicad@barringtonlibrary.org or call 401.247.1920 x312.

Birding at Walker Farm (Barrington)

Barrington Public Library and Ocean State Bird Club have partnered to offer three spring bird walks in the East Bay from April through June. The third walk will be held at Walker Farm in Barrington.

Join us for a birding exploration of the garden, compost area and trails leading into the Osamequin Nature Sanctuary and to the shore of Hundred Acre Cove. We’ll look and listen for resident birds in the gardens, forest, and marsh. Led by Susan Delfs of Ocean State Bird Club.
